Submission Deadline: 20 July 2026
Exhibition Dates*: 3-13 September 2026
Launch Party*: 3 September evening
Location: St John’s College, Exhibition Galleries, Oxford OX1 8JP
Exhibition Overview
East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) Heritage month is celebrated every September in the UK, and this year's theme, Evolving Threads, presents a wonderful opportunity to feature contemporary textile art created by ESEA artists. This exhibition aims to bring together exciting artists (including those who are self-taught, students, and professionals) to connect with one another, showcase their work, and raise the visibility of textile art.
We intend to include as many participating ESEA artists as possible, with as many artworks as can fit in the gallery space.
Artwork that broadly uses textiles (e.g. fiber, fabric, thread, yarn, etc.) and/or incorporates textile art techniques (e.g. embroidery, crocheting, weaving, knitting, quilting, etc.) are welcome. Wall displayed and sculptural pieces can be included.
ESEA artists are those who identify as having heritage (including mixed heritage) connected to East and Southeast Asian regions, such as Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Vietnam.
*Exhibition and launch party dates may be subject to change. Exact exhibition opening days and times will be announced closer to the time. Galleries will be closed during St Giles’ Fair from 7-8 September.
